Photographer Extraordinaire

Photography is not about me. It's about you, your product or your experience. I'm just here to make sure it looks good!

Expect creativity, technology and strategic thinking.

I spend most of my time staring at glowing rectangles. Through them, I frame the emotions of the people and the world around me. Based out of Statesboro, Georgia, I am a commercial photographer, photojournalist, and multimedia aficionado all wrapped into one. Things I like include photography (you betcha!), interacting with people, making friends, going on adventures, and eating homemade tacos.

My work has been featured nationally online and in print for magazines, newspapers and other forms of advertising and print media. I have worked with the city of San Diego, the American Cancer Society and the Smithsonian Institution. My photographs have gained accolades from the Illinois College Press Association, winning me two first-place awards and ADDY awards in both 2012 and 2013. I also hold a fourth-place award from the Chicago Tribune’s annual Shoot Chicago photography competition. You can be confident that I know what I’m doing.

I am old enough to remember when photographs came 24 to a roll, but I am young enough to be eager and enthusiastic – and willing to do anything for the shot! I found my true calling in a darkroom developing film the old fashioned way, and now I’m humbled to say that I’ve won some awards and the title of The University Photographer at Georgia Southern U. I’ve photographed former United States President Jimmy Carter, former First Lady Laura Bush, NFL, NBA and MLB stars, Hollywood types, CEO’s, a chef, various artists and musicians, distinguished alumni, our nation’s future leaders and many a self-proclaimed Joe Schmo. I’ve traveled to Africa, Mexico, Puerto Rico and nearly all 50 states, always with a camera in hand. I’ve seen so many of the incredible things this world has to offer, but I know there is infinitely more and I dream of experiencing as much of it as possible.

I purchased my first DSLR in 2005. I was in college. I began photographing student events and my friends. Before I knew it I was changing my major to visual arts and totally obsessed. With light. Lighting. Aperture. F-stops. Shutter speed. Perspective. The Golden Ratio. Learning every facet of every piece of gear and totally geeking out. Since then, I’ve become two-parts artist and one-part scientist. I am extremely technically savvy, but I know when to break the rules. I know my camera like the back of my hand, and I preach “know thy camera” to anyone who asks me how to take better photos. In my portraits, I give you a glimpse deep into the soul of my subjects. And I can capture moments like nobody’s business. I may come with a lot of baggage — but to be fair, they are pretty nice bags — Billingham, Crumpler and Think Tank. I can also make a mean milkshake…so let’s talk. Making people comfortable is what I do. We can talk photography, we can talk travel or we can talk about the weather. I like all three.

But in the end photography is not about me. It’s about you, your product, or your experience. I’m just here to make sure it looks good!
